Did you or your children ever swim at Bristol North Swimming Baths?
Well if so, you’ll want to have a look at this:
From now until the Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend (hopefully) the swimming baths are open from 2pm till 9pm every day with a temporary art exhibition.
This is YOUR chance to have a last look at these iconic baths (opened in the same year as the Titanic sailed towards New York – that’s 100 years ago) before the developers move in and radically alter the structure to become a new health centre for Bishopston.
Check out the website http://thedeependbristol.co.uk for updates.
Be aware that this is a “work in progress” – so it will be growing over the next few weeks – already they’re opening for far longer than originally envisaged.
PLEASE come down and have a look. You’ll be surprised at what memories you’ll have. And this is your last chance to have a wander around a place that closed seven years ago – and instead of walking round the corner to our local baths we all have to drive up to Horfield (nice though it is, it’s not local, is it?) So – go the extra length – and come out saying “oh wow!”.

Inspiring the Future
Could you help a young person with their career choices?
http://www.inspiringthefuture.org/
Inspiring the Future is a free service which will provide people from all sectors and professions with the opportunity to go into their local state schools and colleges to talk about their jobs, careers, and the education routes they took.
Choosing a training and career path has never been more difficult for young people at school and college. The decision to go to university and face tuition fees, do an apprenticeship, or try to get a job in a jobs market with 20% youth unemployment can be confusing and deeply worrying. This is especially the case for the 1.9 million children who live in workless households and lack the family connections or role models that can provide information and encouragement to think creatively about a career.
Working in the Private & Public sector involves some diverse and unique roles - could you spare some time to talk about your role and the career path that got you here? Did you know that your job existed when you were 16?
Becoming a volunteer is easy – it takes just 5 minutes to register on the Inspiring the Future website, and you do not need a CRB check. Through the secure website, you can then be contacted by local schools and colleges to ask if you could help with a range of activities: taking part in a careers’ fair, career networking (speed dating about jobs) or doing a lunchtime talk to sixth formers about your job and how you got it.
