Component 1 Computer systems (exam - 50% of total marks)
This component introduces students to the central processing unit (cpu) and will include:
- Systems architecture
- Memory and storage
- Computer networks, connections and protocols
- Network security
- Systems software
- Ethical, legal, cultural and environmental impacts of digital technology
Component 2 Computational thinking, algorithms and programming (exam - 50% of total marks)
This component allows students to apply their knowledge and understanding from Component 1 and will include:
- Algorithms
- Programming fundamentals
- Producing robust programs
- Boolean logic
- Programming languages and Integrated Development Environments
It is during Component 2 that students are given the opportunity to complete a practical programming task.
