Parent Teacher Association
What do we do?
We have several objectives. First to provide a friendly network of support for parents creating opportunities to socialise and have fun and also to help organise and support social events for the children. We aim to support and enrich the local Redland Green School community. Our last objective is to fundraise for the school to pay for extra facilities to enhance our children's school experience.
Who can join?
Anyone can. As a charity we have 12 trustees who have overall responsibility but are keen to be supported by ordinary members. If you are a parent or carer please let us know your email address and we will circulate details of forthcoming meetings and events.
How do we operate?
Any parent/carer is welcome to attend meetings. The meetings are informal and take place about once every four to six weeks throughout the school term. We meet either at the school, Redland Tennis Club or occasionally at some other local watering hole. At the meetings we take decisions on what fundraising we are going to do in the next term, organise a sub committee and then do it! But you don't have to become a member of the committee to help. If you can spare the odd hour or two to chaperone at a disco or help at an event we would like to hear from you.
What do we achieve?
Fun, friendship and community spirit. We organise quiz nights, discos, fathers' football & cricket matches & other family events. For the pupils we organise annual school discos and provide refreshments for numerous school plays, concerts and other events. At the May Fair we raise funds by organising carparking and a highly popular cake & biscuit decorating stall. These events and activities are a great way to meet other parents and socialise. Plus we raise money. We have a wish list from the teachers as well as from the school council. One large scale project we want to support is the construction of a canopy over the play area beyond the dining room to give the school a weather proof outside space.
